TELL ME Art Project

DURATION: From July 8th, 2008 to January 20th, 2009

DESCRIPTION:

For TELL ME, artist Gema Alava invited twenty two artists to have private conversations with her and answer three questions in an impossible-to-document scenario in the galleries of a Major Art Museum in New York City. The visual interaction of TELL ME’s participants was recorded by the security cameras of the museum. After the museum’s consideration, the footage of these tapes could not be used for artistic purposes and therefore, the performances and conversations remain as an ephemeral art project alive in the memory of each participant.

The names of the participating artists were always revealed inside the museum. During their participation inside the museum, artists worked on a book entitled “TELL ME 2.0.” The content of this book cannot be made public.

The project ended on January 20th, 2009, when Alava personally invited the director of the museum to participate in this ephemeral and impossible-to-document art project.
