Gema Álava will present her performative lectures entitled “Inspiring Audiences” which connect the experiences of participants of her project Trust Me in Quito, Ecuador, and New York City, EEUU. Trust Me’s project was inspired by Alava’s work during a decade as a verbal descriptive guide for people who are blind or visually impaired and is currently on view at The Gallery at Industry City until June 22 in New York.
These series of performative lectures in English and Spanish have been supported in 2017 by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Ecuador, PUCE, in Quito, and the Dedalus Foundation and Art Beyond Sight, in New York City.
