New York, NY and Tenderloin District of San Francisco, CA/ Presented at CUE Art Foundation, New York
Art Project, 2009
Description: Gema Alava asked artists Lars Chellberg, Barbara Holub, Paul Kos, Robert Ryman, Arne Svenson, Ester Partegas, Merrill Wagner, Lawrence Weiner and Maria Yoon to create an artwork in order for her to hide it somewhere in New York City and San Francisco’s Tenderloin District. The locations remain secret. Just Alava and the artists who made the pieces for FIND ME know where his/her pieces are. Alava shared general information of these locations at an Art Event at CUE Art Foundation. She also hid at the main public library in San Francisco an artist book titled FIND ME 2.0 with the exact locations.
Locations where the hidden pieces have been placed:
IN NEW YORK CITY: An Art School (Ryman) crowded street (Svenson), video store (Holub), brick building between Gold Street and Wall Street (Kos), front steps of a brownstone (Wagner).
IN SAN FRANCISCO’s TENDERLOIN DISTRICT: On a tree and bench (Chellberg), in a deli (Yoon), nearby credit card stickers on small bussiness’ front doors (Weiner); Grabage pick up (Partegas)
